The new science building at Montgomery College is a four-story, 141,000 SF new laboratory and classroom building which is connected through its full-height atrium to existing academic buildings. They will be renovated as well to create a science and mathematics center at the Rockville, Maryland campus. The project includes labs for biology, chemistry and physical sciences, classrooms, a rooftop observatory, a greenhouse and faculty offices. CBH+A is responsible for exterior and atrium design as associate architect with Burt Hill.
A LEED-gold sustainability certification is being sought.
