The Principals
Cho Benn Holback + Associates is organized around the commitment of the principals to active participation in all levels of their projects.
Diane E. Cho []
A founder of the firm, she has specialized experience in the areas of educational and institutional buildings. Ms. Cho has received design awards from the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Baltimore Magazine and the National Aquarium for her work. She has served on awards juries for the National Endowment of the Arts, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Virginia and Washington D.C. Chapters of the AIA. Ms. Cho is also responsible for the financial management and quality control of the firm's work. She has served on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Central Baltimore, the Executive Committee of Commercial Real Estate Women, the Baltimore County Magnet School Advisory Council, and is a member of the Maryland State Board of Architects. Her Bachelor of Architecture is from Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art and Planning.
David W. Benn ]
David is experienced in architecture, urban design, and campus planning. The recipient of the Cornell University Eidlitz Traveling Fellowship Award, he practiced architecture in London, Teheran and New York, and taught architectural design at Cornell University before joining Cho in Baltimore. He has won design awards from the Maryland Society and Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Maryland Trust, the Waterfront Center, and Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the American Planning Association, and serves on the Board of Baltimore Heritage, and the Maryland Heritage Alliance. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art and Planning in 1974.
George N. Holback
brings to the firm a combined background of architecture and fine arts. His undergraduate training at the Maryland Institute College of Art is augmented by his graduate training in architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The specialized rendering and design imaging capabilities that he utilizes has helped the firm develop and market their design process. Mr. Holback's design capabilities are countered with strong experience and emphasis on technical building design issues. He has formulated the present office documentation standards and handles office quality control reviews. Mr. Holback has won numerous awards for his architecture projects and sculpture work.
 

 

Staff
Twenty-four dedicated professionals in various disciplines including architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and interior design work together in teams tailored to each projects needs. Over half the staff is registered in a variety of states.
