This project represents the renovation of a historic building and new 2-story addition for a non-profit social service center. The building incorporated a lobby atrium, four classrooms, drop-in center for children, outdoor play area, kitchen, conference rooms, offices, basement storage and support spaces. The design is sensitive to the scale and massing of the neighborhood and the existing building while providing a positive environment for adolescent learning and support. The project preserves and celebrates the character of the historic building while keeping the new construction as clean and simple as possible.
