UMBC Albin O Kuhn Library

This 131,000 SF addition to the existing campus library gave the original structure a new identity and a strong presence at the end of the main campus promenade. The new facility provided for the inclusion and flexible use of interactive information technologies. Special challenges included designing within the existing modern (brutalist) vocabulary, creating a signature "tower" building per the President's request and keeping the library functioning during renovation through careful phasing.
